  Worst embassy experience of my life. Like everywhere else in Panama, they refuse to hire Americans -- you would think that the American Embassy would be immune from the law of having to hire 10 idiot Panamanians for every one foreigner, but apparently the law is enforced at embassies as well!! This place, like most of Panama is staffed by a bunch of complete morons who consider that the moment they arrive at their office, they have completed their work day. They speak English very poorly, don't know their work -- I had the unfortunate experience of having to try to deal with someone about social security benefits and the Panamanian!!! was ignorant as to the rules and could not have been much ruder or less helpful. Everyone here is nasty so be prepared -- from the moment they make you leave your lipstick in the little guardhouse, until you leave. You will not feel like you are on American soil or with your fellow citizens -- as you should. Also, it is almost impossible to get there, there's no parking, so you must take a taxi, and it's a long walk to the building for anyone who is disabled. A miserable, lousy experience, you are treated like garbage for being an American, just like most other places in Panama. Once they empty your wallet, they are done with you.

  I have nothing but praise for the embassy staff! Their recent ‘rescue’ of a young New York woman experiencing mental health issues while travelling alone in Boquete is commendable! I can only hope that the Canadian Embassy would offer the same care and concern.

  I have had only 2 interactions with the Consular section, both of which were promptly, efficiently and pleasantly handled. No complaints, although the photos I had taken and took with me were rejected for some technical reason, and I had to go out to the street-hustler fotogs in their tents at the gate, all in all a minor inconvenience. Interesting the the Panamanians have named the street on which the Embassy stands for Demetrio Basilio Lakas, one of the stooge presidents under the military dictatorship, but I presume not even Rex Tillerson could be responsible for that.

  Actually I have to give 3 stars to the US Embassy in Panama, I had a document to be notarized by the Consul and the guard at the entrance and the gentleman were very helpful. I did not know I had to make an appointment and I was taken care as a walking. I would give a 4 stars if they will consider US Citizens Services as a walking basis. We need to take care of our US Citizens needs, living abroad voluntarily or not expediently.

  Horrible. You have to stand in the sun or rain if it's the case. Hundreds of people come there every day and they haven't thought about putting a small roof over the tiny entrance where they ask you to stand and wait.
