  Just hot ripped off by this company, be ware that if you rent from them you will get scammed. We rented a car from them and had a dent under the vehivle that you could not see when the gave us the car since they parked it right up to the next car. When we returned the car they went right to that spot and said "oh look, there is a dent right here." I have a picture of the car on the first stop we made 2 hrs after picking it up (we drove in pavement the whole time) and there it was the dent. It's sad that vompanies have to turn to this tactics to make money. Hope it was worth the bad rep you'll get for scaming customers. Please dont rent from this company, you will get ripped off like we did. Update: They refunded the fee so at least I give them credit that they cleaned up their mess.

  At PTY they told me that I can't rent the car cause Im unable to drive in panama with my USA license.

  National Car seems cheap, but it really isn't. We think that the online reservation is not reliable, because they charged us more than 300 dollar extra additional fees. when we picked up the car at National Car, Hotel Panama. They offered us a smaller car than we booked. Service is poor.

  I booked a car months in advance for a Christmas vacation and when I got to the counter they said they had given away my car as I was 30 minutes late due to long lines in customs - noted a 2:30p arrival and was at the counter at 3:00p. They offered absolutely no help and every other car company was 100% sold out since it was the holidays. Their excuse was "we are an independent franchise, not part of National so we can do what we want". Be warned - your reservation means nothing, your loyalty to National means nothing - shameful that National allows them to continue to operate under their name.

  I just want to give a warning to anyone looking to rent a car here. I booked the car online with the liability coverage since my insurance does not cover me in Panama. National seemed to have the best deal for the car rental and the coverage for liability at $6/day. When I arrived I was told that the website was wrong and that it was actually $12/day. They could not offer an explanation to why the website was different. I argued and said that I was not paying the $12/day. We arrived late at night and at this point there are no other options. They told me they could not give me the car if I didn’t agree to the $12/day. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a bait and switch as the rental ended up being more expensive than the competitors. The agents at the counter made me sign to agree to the rate before they would give me the car. Once I returned home I called National and they agreed that the rate should have been $6/day and said they would make it right. After a week I received a response that since I signed and agreed to the higher rate they could not refund me the difference. Be careful out there fellow Travelers.
